Church History

This Church was founded in 1611, but it closed in 1880.

Probably the site of an Saxon church.
1190 Short-lived Norman Priory on this site.
C1260 First church on this site.
C1590 Chancel area rebuilt.
1645 Church altered. Half-timbered chapel built.
1711 East end of chancel rebuilt & tower added.
1722 Gallery added.
1813 Wooden floor installed & new vestry built on side of tower.
1857 Chancel floor tiled & gallery removed.
1880 New Parish Church built on another site.
1971 Care passed to Churches Conservation Trust.
